Here are just a few useful resources to help you explore the world of bicycling...

Here's a quick guide to buying your own bike.  This is a copy of a brochure I made for my "How to Buy a Bike" class that I do for Move Redmond.  You are welcome to download and copy it as long as you attribute it to bicycleteacher.com.

Cycling Savvy for the absolute best approach to bicycling as a part of the normal flow of traffic.  Excellent resources.  I was trained by Cycling Savvy as a Cycling Savvy Instructor (CSI).  Their Ride Awesome membership offers online instruction that is invaluable.  Highly recommended!
Bicycle Riding School in Massachusetts has an excellent online guide to teaching yourself how to balance on 2 wheels.  They use a slightly different approach than I do, but their advice is solid and if you can't take one of my classes, this is a great resource.  Check out their video and you'll also get a good idea of what my Biking 101 and Level 1 classes are like.

League of American Bicyclists is the U.S.'s largest bicycle advocacy and education organization.  I was trained by them to be a League Cycling Instructor (LCI).  Supporting their work helps push legislation and policy changes at the federal level to make bicycling safer and more accessible to all.

Cascade Bicycle Club is Washington State's largest bicycling club.  They offer education similar to mine, as well as a lot of free group rides all over the place.  They also put on major bicycle rides like the Seattle to Portland (STP), the Chilly Hilly, and lots of other group rides.  They also advocate for better streets and trails in Washington State, and are spearheading a school-based bicycle education program throughout Washington State.  Becoming a member is a great way to find friends and get plugged into the bicycling community.

Washington Bikes is Washington State's legislative advocacy organization.  They support bike-friendly candidates around Washington State at all levels of government, and lobby for bike-friendly legislation and funding in the Washington State Legislature.

West Sound Cycling Club is Kitsap County's local bike club.  I'm a member!  If you live in Kitsap and want a great group of folks to ride with, join up.
